Products I use for Toby

As a first-time dog mom, I struggled to find products that were ethically sourced (didn't know where to start), products that were right for Toby's breed/coat, supplements that were needed for him since his breed is prone to hip dysplasia (little legs, long body - blessing and a curse) and everything in between. I hope this page helps dog parents out there but of course, these are my recommendations, not a MUST/NEED. Every dog has their different needs and please please PLEASE talk to your vet.

I wanted to stick to one brand so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of having to make sure Toby would eat them and have him become a picky eater (fortunately for us, Toby is a vacuum) After thorough research of what other corgi owners give their babies, Zesty Paws was the highly used supplement brand!

  • Probiotic Bites - made with six strains of probiotics to support gut health! Healthy poops make a happy pup!

  • 8-in-1 Bites - support hip and joint function, heart health, skin health, gut function, the immune system, antioxidant activity, liver health, and performance.

  • Cranberry Bladder Bites - promote kidney, bladder, and urinary tract health for dogs. Toby has always been a champion (in our household) in holding his bladder even when we have never trained him to do so. So this was a great find to protect his little bladder!

  • Cardio Bites - support circulation and normal function of the cardiac muscle. Toby's an active dog and we always go on runs on a good day, so we give him this to help his cardio and heart health.

  • Mobility Bites - provide hip and joint support. Since he's such an active dog and a fast runner, extra supplements helps give us assurance that his bones are healthy!

We realized Toby's paws were getting rough and dirty from walks and runs, and we wanted to preserve his pink paws as well as keep the cleanliness around the house (as if his shedding wasn't enough lol) In addition, salts during snow times are harmful for his paws, so are HOT pavements that we experienced caused his calluses to peel. Poor Toby!

Because of Toby's paw size (dog front paws and bunny paws in the back), we had to go through a few other dog brands to figure out the right one for Toby. Luckily we found RifRuf and they had flexible sizing for dog paws! Toby's a 3/4 in his RifRuf shoes and Toby's paws have never looked cleaner and he is currently known as the Corgi with booties around our neighborhood! How do you not look fly in these designs?! Obviously, we had to get a matching harness and leash!

They even have a sizing guide to know how to measure your dog's paw and helpful video guides teaching you how to put the shoes on! Impeccable customer service that responds pretty quickly to address any concerns and questions you may have. Just those 3 alone have made us loyal customers.

Open Farm is a dog food brand that is ethically, sourced from humane family farms that treat their animals with respect, just like how we want our furry best friends to be treated as well.

"It’s out of that vision that Open Farm was born—from the simple idea that pet food can both be good for your pet, and do some good for farm animals and the environment, all at the same time."

Aligning with Open Farm's vision, we of course wanted to make sure we were feeding Toby the safest and healthiest option there is out there. We also want to give him flavorful meals so he is always excited for meal time! With a little wet food and broth, you can bet his sweet patootie that he rushes us to get his food ready.

Because Toby is an active breed and sometimes I can't entertain him all the time because of work and human nature, I keep him busy with enrichment toys! I get them from Chewy!

Dogs need both mental and physical exercise. Providing mental situations through problem-solving and fun games can help find a balance between a dog’s physical and mental health. A busy doggy engaged in play is less likely to turn to potentially destructive behaviors as a way to cure their boredom. Luckily Toby has never had destructive behavior but how can I resist his puppy dog eyes when he's bored?

These are puzzles that I got for Toby but he's a smart cookie! I could place all 5 of them around the house and he would finish them in 30 minutes. I do recommend finding other stimulations and puzzles for your dog. Sometimes I would use an old t-shirt, roll up treats in it, and tie 3 knots. Occupies Toby for 45 minutes which means I get 45 minutes of quiet time. And then there are food enrichments, where I would freeze some goodies in water and let him go ham!

Shop Sunny Tails was started by Vania when she got her dog during the pandemic and wanted to dress up her dog with her own taste and aesthetic. Thus Shop Sunny Tails was created! We are so lucky and honored to be part of their ambassador program and be one of the first groups of people to see upcoming releases!

"Ultimately what I’ve learned is that there’s really no community I’ve met that is as encouraging and supportive as dog parents, and my hope for everyone that comes across Shop Sunny Tails is that they not only find something for their pup, but also community and friendships that last. Because dog people and their best friends are simply the best :')" -Vania

I couldn't resist dressing Toby up as well because who says a dog can't look good?!
